The Coosa River will be getting a cleanup next week. The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office is working to clean up the county by joining the efforts of Renew Our Rivers starting Monday. More than 35 inmates, from the Substance Abuse Prevention Program, will spend the week, supervised by deputies, picking up trash and removing debris from the river banks of the Coosa River. Inmates will continue collecting trash and debris through Friday. The collected debris can be seen in the parking lot of the Mort Glosser Amphitheatre. More than 10 million pounds of trash and debris have been removed from Alabama and Southeast Rivers since the campaign began.
