JSU's Anderson & Grillo Earn All-OVC Honors

Jacksonville State's Tomasz Anderson and Franco Grillo were both named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Team, announced during the annual awards banquet Friday evening after the opening round of the OVC Men's Golf Championship. It marks the third straight year that Anderson has earned the honor and the second straight year for Grillo. Anderson led the Ohio Valley Conference with a 72.62 stroke average and is ranked No. 88 in the world amateur rankings. He has six Top 10 finishes in his nine tournaments this year, including winning the Auburn Tiger Invitation after shooting 67-69-70 to shoot a 10-under par 206. He also was an All-OVC selection in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and also was on the 2011-12 OVC All-Newcomer team as a freshman. Grillo is ranked 10th in the OVC with a 73.92 stroke average and has three Top 4 finishes this season. He won the Grub Mart Intercollegiate in his last outing after shooting a 68-69 for a 7-under par score of 137 in the 36-hole event. He finished tied for third at the Golfweek Program Challenge in the season opener and tied for fourth in the FAU Slomin Autism Invite in late March. Jacksonville State holds a six-shot lead at the 2014 OVC Men's Golf Championship after Friday's opening round.
