The Gadsden Northeast Alabama Regional Airport is getting a much needed facelift. According to airport director, Fred Sington, the airport received a grant from the Federal Aviation Authority and Alabama Aeronautics for $2.5 million dollars. The money will be used to re-do the underpinning of the main East-West runway #624. The runway is 7000 feet long and will be completely re-paved and re-striped. The construction will begin May 12th and will take 95 to 100 days to complete. The airport also received another grant to repair the cracks and re-seal the main ALPHA taxiway #624. That grant is for $150,000 dollars and the work will take 60 days.
