A routine traffic stop turns into a drug bust for Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies. According to a press release from the Cherokee County Sheriff, a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on US Highway 411 north of Centre on the afternoon of April 28th concluded with authorities seizing a sizable amount of illegal narcotics including marijuana, Ecstacy, molly, and various prescription drugs along with a large sum of cash. Miles Borcherdt, Randell Dolin, and Brent Champagne, all of Louisiana, were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and first degree unlawful possession of marijuana, after authorities approached their vehicle and smelled an odor of what he believed to be burning marijuana. The deputies then called for assistance from the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative and Counter-Drug Unit. The three were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
