National Weather Service Rates Tornado in Etowah

The National Weather Service has determined that the tornado that ripped through the Smith Institute community of Northern Etowah County was an EF-3. This week, as many as 150 homes were hit in Etowah County . According to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, 31 of the state's 67 counties reported damage, but officials say the majority of that damage came from Etowah County. FEMA officials are in the field visiting the area to continue surveying the damage. The National Weather Service says that 15 tornadoes touched down in Alabama during this week’s severe weather outbreak.
