Anniston Receives Grant for Community Sustainability

A diverse group of Anniston residents come together at the City Meeting Center to talk about the future livability of their community. The city received a grant to address improving the sustainability of local food systems. The 2-day workshop focuses on community gardens, improving the farmer’s market, nutrition education for members of the region, and better transportation for the downtown district. The planning consultants for the workshop represent the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Appalachian Regional Commission. Anniston received the grant because it was rated the top city out of 60 communities that applied.
