State Championship Tournament in Gadsden

The Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association’s State Championship tournament is under way in Gadsden.The tournament is the State Championship of High School Bass Fishing. 240 boats – representing high schools from all over the state - are participating in the tournament – including several local high school teams. Despite the rainy start to the tournament today, many of the student anglers were on the fish. After the first day of tournament action here’s how the top five rounds out so far.Finishing the day in First place, is Plainview High School turning in a five fish limit weighing 19.40 lbs. Coming in second and third were two boats from the Chelsea Anglers with 16.84 lbs. and 14.97 lbs. respectively. A local team gets in on the action in 4th place. The team from Alexandria High School weighed in at 14.53 lbs. and rounding out the top 5 is North Sand Mountain with 14.09 lbs. The second – and final – day of the tournament blasts off tomorrow morning at safe daylight with the final weigh-in set to be held at the Mort Glosser Amphitheater starting at 2:00pm.
