Law Enforcement Appreciation Week in Anniston

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Calhoun County recognizes the brave work of its law enforcement by celebrating the call and duty of the men and the women who keep their community safe with a law enforcement appreciation week, beginning today. Women Behind the Badge and Calhoun County Courthouse employees collaborated to bring this kind of recognition to the area.  Courthouse employees came up with the idea because they wanted a way to recognize the important and valuable work of their local public safety force. So, they decided to serve all of the law enforcement personnel breakfast.  And, they will be doing just that every day for the rest of the week between 8:30AM and 10:30AM at the Calhoun County Courthouse law library. Today’s event was well attended and members of Calhoun County’s law enforcement, residents of the community, and state officials came together to kick off the week.  There will be a candlelight vigil tomorrow night in honor of slain officers at 8:00PM at Anniston’s Centennial Park. The week-long appreciation will wrap up with a memorial service at Anniston’s Centennial Park on Friday at 6:00PM to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty.  Members of the community are encouraged to attend.
