Spring Jam Previews: Ohatchee and Weaver
We are now less than 24 hours away from a big three-day football spree on our network. We conclude our look at teams playing in the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam with a look at Ohatchee and Weaver.
The Ohatchee Indians who went indoors for their final walk-thru Wednesday afternoon. Ohatchee is led by new head coach Scott Martin who previously served at 6A Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Martin will look to revive the proud tradition at Ohatchee and it starts this spring. It has been a whirlwind first few months on the job, but Martin says the spring has been a great foundation. As with any new hire the terminology and philosophy on both side of the ball will get a tweak. Martin praised the team’s effort and attitude towards learning the system quickly.
Meanwhile, Weaver is looking to replace some big shoes this spring. The Bearcats graduated a very talented senior class that saw three players sign to play college football; but head coach Darly Hamby says the young guys are hungry and willing to fill the shoes this season. The Bearcats will face Wellborn on Friday night in what should be a great contest. Hamby says the hype of playing a big game adds fuel to the spring.
