Elder Abuse Grant

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

One local agency gets a $250,000 dollar 3-year grant to combat elder abuse. Second Chance is partnering with The Calhoun County Sherriff’s Office to use the grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women to educate and prepare law enforcement to address elder abuse cases. The officer’s training took place in Washington and Chicago and now they are looking forward to taking that training and teaching others in the community. The grant is one of seven awarded in the nation.
