Saturday, May 24, 2014

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that its on-site Disaster Recovery Center in Etowah County will be closing this weekend. The center has been open in the Sardis City hall and has been serving the needs of residents in northern Etowah County who were affected by the tornado that hit the Sardis and Smith Institute communities on April 29.  Those who have not yet signed up for FEMA disaster assistance, should do so by 6:00pm tomorrow – after that deadline – online and telephone registration will be your only options. To register online – visit the FEMA website at www.FEMA.gov.  For telephone registrations – call 800-621-3362.  The final deadline to register for FEMA assistance is Tuesday, July 1st.
