The hunt for college baseball’s national championship begins this week at the regionals.
The best 64 teams, including Jacksonville State, take the field on Friday. The Gamecocks are rolling into the regional winners of their last six in a row- but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
JSU played a tough schedule including games against other regional teams like Mississippi State and Alabama. The Gamecocks beat the Bulldogs 2-1 and they will draw on their experience in big venues for their first round game at Ole Miss.
JSU will set up shop in the Oxford Regional alongside three schools from power conferences: Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Washington. The Rebels are currently ranked No. 12 in the country and all three have been ranked in the top 15 at one point this season. The easy assumption is that JSU is considered the underdog, but that is not how they see it. The Gamecocks will get their shot in the first game of the Regional Friday night at 7pm against Ole Miss.
