USCS Sprint Car Series Heads to Talladega Short Track

The United Speed Contest Sanction (USCS) invades Talladega Short Track with the USCS Sprint Car Speedweek 2014 Round #4 for winged Outlaw sprint cars , USCS Outlaw Modified and USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprint triple-header on THURSDAY, May 29th for the USCS “THUNDERTHURSDAY” week-night SPECIAL event. The action packed racing card is a literal "Smorgasbord of Speed" featuring plenty of high speed action at one of the South's most popular racing venues as approximately 100 drivers will be seeking a visit to the USCS victory lane.

Race teams and race fans will be treated to a full menu of speed contests with racing in six of the area's most popular divisions. The event includes over 125 laps of Championship main events for over $20,000 in prize money up for grabs. Racing action kicks off on Thursday night at 7:30pm with a full racing program in all six divisions including the 130 plus mile per hour USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour drivers will be competing in Round #4 (of 6) of the 9th annual USCS Sprint Car Speedweek.

This will be the first appearance of the USCS sanctioned sprint cars at Talladega Short Track in over a decade. The United Sprint Car Series, now in its eighteenth season contested it’s first ever event at Talladega Short Track on April 25, 1997. It will be the first-ever USCS event during their USCS Sprint Speedweek min-series that started nine seasons ago.

The mighty K&N Filters USCS Outlaw Modified Series drivers squares off to compete in the only race scheduled during the 2014 season for open wheel modified type race cars. The race is expected to draw some of the top Modifed drivers in the South for the $1000 to win contest. NASCAR veteran racer Ken Schrader who has 970 starts in NASCAR’s top three divisions including 763 Sprint Cup and formerly Winston Cup division was ine if the first pre-entries for the TST event. Schrader has won twice in USCS competition this season in four starts. Schrader led the series point standings prior to missing two Memorial Day weekend events due to prior commitments.

The third USCS racing division on the action-packed racing card is the USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. Drivers for that division are expected from five states for Friday’s event. Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi who was the 2011 and 2012 National Champion in the division and 2013 USCS 600 Sprint Champion, eighteen year old, Sean Hosey from Clarksville, Tennessee top the entry list for the USCS 600 sprints.

The Nesmith Dirt Late Model, the Sportsman and Rite-way Auto Sales Hot Shots are all three scheduled for a full program in each division during the “THUNDER THURSDAY” night of racing.
