According to Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head, Kerrie Breedlove crashed her car through a guard rail and ran off of Sand Mountain.
Officials say Breedlove was driving on Rockledge Road and drove straight across all four lanes of U.S. Highway 431 and through a guard rail, crashing her vehicle at the bottom of the mountain. Head said the car traveled approximately 375 feet down the mountain and through the air. The rescue took more than 5 hours as crews had to rappel down the mountain and use off-road vehicles to reach the wreckage. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office also used a helicopter to help in the recovery. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
