Last night’s Republican primary resulted in the need for a single run-off election in Etowah County. Voters in the County Commission’s District 4 will have to return to the polls in July to select their next commissioner. The primary for that seat featured incumbent Jeff Overstreet facing challenges from Lana Gaskin Bellew and Randall Green. Overstreet received the most votes in the district, but did not reach the 50 percent level needed to win the race outright. Overstreet had 48.91 percent of the votes – Bellew received 30.86 percent and Green received 20.24 percent. Overstreet and Bellew will now face off in a run-off on July 15th.
