Rabid Raccoon in Talladega County

We’ve all heard the stories of rabid animals attacking people. And, most of us with pets understand the importance of pet immunization. The following story out of Talladega County will prompt you to make sure your pet is immunized. A rabid raccoon who was involved in a fight with a dog near downtown Sylacauga has prompted public health officials to issue precautions on how people can protect themselves from wild animals and rabies. The Alabama Department of Public Heath strongly urges people not to approach stray animals, wildlife or bats. And to protect yourself, your family and your pets from exposure to the rabies virus, you should take precautions. State law requires that dogs, cats and ferrets remain currently vaccinated against rabies.
