Calhoun County Commission Meeting

Today, at the Calhoun County Commission meeting the commission votes to give the East Central Alabama Training Association which is affiliated with the Anniston Fire Department $3000 for special training tablets. Anniston Fire Chief David Randle said the tablets will be used to help the department get away from training from a textbook. Chief Randle also said it’s a way for the fire department to be more environmentally conscious. He says it’s their way of becoming more “Green.” The Calhoun County E-M-A provided the funding for the tablets. Also, at the Calhoun County Commission meeting, the Alexandria High School 2014 Alabama State Championship Softball team was recognized. The Commission celebrated the team’s sportsmanship and cooperation. Most of the team couldn’t attend the ceremony because they are at camps this summer. But still, Coach Hess says the recognition is nice and they deserve it because each player showed up and did their part for every game. Alexandria defeated Alabama Christian to clench the Class 4 A state title.
