United Way Day of Action in Anniston

Today is the 18th year for United Way of East Central Alabama’s Day of Action. And, volunteers from all over the area gathered at various agencies and elementary schools to give of their time to help. Volunteers from North East Regional Medical Center helped to fix up Randolph Elementary School by putting a fresh coat of paint on their building. And, volunteers from Jacksonville’s WalMart spent their day at The ARC of Calhoun County. They painted a conference room, painted a hallway, and a bookcase. And, they have plans to come back in a couple of weeks to do an extra project. There are three ways you can help the United Way. You can give, advocate, and volunteer. This special day is United Way’s signature volunteer event, and today, they had more than 280 volunteers doing fix-up projects. United Way interim Executive Director, Shannon Jenkins, says they are excited about the work they see going on. For more information on how you can partner with United Way, call their office at 256-236-8229 or visit their website at UWECA.ORG.
