Not too many of us can claim to have been around long enough to see the world change over a century. But the very spry and perceptive Louise Gray, an NHC Healthcare of Anniston resident, has had the blessing of a century of life. Today, she celebrates her 100th birthday at NHC Healthcare of Anniston, and she’s happy about it. NHC Healthcare of Anniston inducted Gray into their 100 Year Old Club, today. She is one of three that have made it to that mark. Gray is the third of 7 children, and she was joined yesterday by her sister at a pre-celebration birthday party. 90-year-old Mary Wilkins Bryant praises her older sister for what she’s meant to her life. When Louise Gray was born in 1914, the average life expectancy in the U.S. was only 47 years, 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub, 8 percent of the homes had a telephone, and Alabama was one of the states that were more heavily populated than California.
