The Oxford Police Department continues its safe driving campaign. Operation Safe Driving began yesterday and will continue for 8 weeks. The campaign will increase the force of police officers out on the street. Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge says the program is designed to curb statistics of speed related crashes and distracted driving crashes during the Summer and into early Fall. Chief Partridge says the safety of police officers is what is paramount. So, if you are out driving and you see an officer on a traffic stop, move over and give that officer room to work. He says the campaign will also bring attention to any agency that works with vehicles pulled over to the side of the road including Fire, E-M-S, and wrecker drivers.
