JSU RB Troymaine Pope Treated For Non-Life Threatening Wound

Moving to local news, Anniston Police are looking for information in their investigation of a shooting early Sunday morning. Of the few details being reported, the incident involved JSU running back Troymaine Pope. According to a press release from Anniston Police Captain Allen George, a 20 year old male was shot in the right bicep outside of AJ’s Sunset Grill between 5:20am - 5:25am Sunday morning. JSU officials have confirmed the victim is Pope. He was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound at RMC. Due to privacy laws, the extent of the injury were not disclosed and the Anniston Police Department says barring an arrest, no further information will be released on the case. Last season, Pope rushed for 633 yards and eight touchdowns.
