Community Eligibility Program
A meal program that will help Anniston City Schools students receive breakfast and lunch for free gets support from community leaders. The Community Eligibility Program is a federal program that will help Anniston City Schools offer free meals to students in the 2014-2015 school year. And, according to Anniston City Schools Superintendent Darren Douthitt, the Board of Education’s approval of the cafeteria initiative will help kids born into poverty and those with families who are struggling in today’s economy get healthy food. Douthitt hopes more school systems will jump on board. Students will no longer have to apply for free or reduced priced meals.
