According to the officials of LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, they need local blood donors from Talladega, Jacksonville, and Anniston. LifeSouth Community Development Coordinator Brian Garrett says, LifeSouth and its donors are now supplying all of the blood for Regional Medical Center Jacksonville, Regional Medical Center in Anniston, and Citizens Baptist in Talladega. And, he says that their approach to blood donation may surprise you.LifeSouth officials estimate they will need about 6,500 blood donors every year from Calhoun and Talladega counties and that each individual blood donation will save 3 local lives. Donors must be 17 or older, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is also required. All donors will receive a recognition item from LifeSouth and a free cholesterol screening.
