Last Day For Tornado Debris Pickup at Smith Institute

Saturday, July 12, 2014

Etowah County workers will no longer pick up tornado debris in the Smith Institute community. According to the National Weather Service, an E-F- three tornado struck the community on April 28.  More than 60 structures were damaged when the tornado came through the area, but fortunately, no one was killed or seriously injured.  The county offered to pick up debris for those affected, if they left it on the side of the road.  Today was the last day for those pickups.
