Jacksonville City Council Approves Design for Complex

The city is scheduled to spend more than $9 million for the project. And they have already spent approximately $400,000 on the development’s earlier architects. City of Jacksonville Mayor Johnny Smith says they now have a good team working on the details. According to officials, the plans presented to the council include designs for increased space for the fire department and a courtroom that will hold more than 200 people and will double as a community storm shelter. Also, the police department plans include a fortified dispatch area, interview rooms, and supplemental space for other police business. Mayor Smith adds that they hope to have more development at the end of the year and plan to begin construction at the first of next year.
