Riverview Among Best in State

An East Alabama hospital has been named as one of the best in the state. Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden received word yesterday that they had tied with Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham as Alabama’s second best hospital by the latest U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital Rankings. The magazine’s hospital rankings are updated every July and are based on several factors – including mortality rates, patient safety and numerous other factors. They also survey local physicians about the hospitals. Riverview CEO Jim Edmondson says that the ranking is an unexpected honor and that credit should go to the hospital’s staff and doctors. UAB Medical Center in Birmingham was named as the best hospital in the state and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota was named as the best hospital in the country.
