Skin Cancer Warning

Friday, August 1, 2014

There’s a new warning about the dangers of indoor and outdoor tanning. According to the acting U-S Surgeon General Boris Lushniak, there is a link between tanning and skin cancer. Lushniak called skin cancer a “Major public health problem” in a recent call to action.  In the report, it states that nearly 5-million people in the U-S are treated for skin cancer every year. And more than 400,000 cases are estimated to be linked to indoor tanning.  Lushniak recommends wearing sunscreen and protective gear outdoors, such as a hat and sunglasses, and avoid indoor tanning.
