Power To Play/E-textbook Curriculum - Alabama Power

The Alabama Power Foundation is launching a new grant program aimed at

helping high school athletic programs break down barriers to student participation. The “Power To Play” grant program will award $2,500 to 36 schools throughout the state to support their athletic programs. According to Alabama Power Foundation officials, schools can apply for Power To Play grants beginning August 4th. The last day to apply is September 14th. Finalists for the grants will be chosen on September 22nd. Finalists will then compete in an online ballot process, during which members of the community can vote to support their school. Winners will be announced December 3rd. And, reports of more good work from Alabama Power. The Alabama Power Foundation and Go Build Alabama announce the creation of a new e-textbook curriculum showcasing careers in Alabama SUCCESS.. The e-textbook was released at the Alabama Career and Technical Education Professional Development Conference. Inside the e-textbook, students will be able to use interactive widgets, tap pop-ups for more information, watch video interviews of men and women who work in the skilled trades, investigate career paths and locate training facilities in Alabama. The e-textbook will be available as a free download in the Apple iBooks Store. It will be freely distributed to all seventh- to ninth-graders in Alabama beginning this upcoming school year.
