The 34th Annual Historic Woodstock 5K and Kidstock 1 Mile Fun Run will be held tomorrow.
The Anniston Runners Club and their members are inviting all of the community to come out and cheer on runners and walkers. More than 1,400 people are expected compete this year. Also this year, Anniston is hosting the Road Runners Club of America’s Southern Region 5K Championship. Woodstock 5K Director Haley Gregg says the race is for both the experienced and inexperienced athlete. Gregg says Woodstock has world class start/finish lines, with a famous up the hill finish on Woodstock Avenue and then a great after-race celebration with food, live music, fellowship and vendors. Woodstock 5K registered runner and Alexandria High School student Abby Bowers agrees that the run is a fun event, with encouragement from people all along the route. And, she says she wants to better her performance from last year. Woodstock 5K registered runner Rochelle Tolbert – Dorsey says this is her first time running in the race and her participation in tomorrow’s race is to continue the tradition that her father began. The proceeds from the Woodstock 5K will allow the Anniston Runners Club to donate money to local programs, such as the East Central Alabama United Cerebral Palsy Center, Special Olympics and others. The Woodstock 5K begins at 7:30AM and the Kidstock 1 Mile begins at 8:30AM.
