Guilty on Charges of Theft

A former employee of a DeKalb County nursing home has pleaded guilty to charges of theft. Prosecutors say that Kimberly Nance of Rainsville admitted that she stole nearly $5,700 from the resident trust fund at Crowne Healthcare of Fort Payne. According to officials, Nance falsified deposit tickets and converted money for her own use between 2010 and 2012. DeKalb County Circuit Judge Randall Cole sentenced Nance today to two years imprisonment, which was suspended. Instead, she was placed on two years of supervised probation. Nance was also ordered to pay back the money she took from the facility and barred from working in any facility that receives federal healthcare funds.
