National Night Out

A national event created to heighten crime prevention awareness and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back celebrates its 31st anniversary.The Anniston Housing Authority held its annual "National Night Out" Festival at Cooper Homes in Anniston, tonight. Guests enjoyed music, food, Police, Fire and EMS exhibits, child fingerprinting, and even had the opportunity to hear various city leaders speak. Anniston City Councilman for Ward 3 Seyram Selase says the community event is all about improving the everyday living experiences of the city of Anniston residents. Anniston Housing Authority Executive Director, Willie McMahand, says the night strengthens the relationship between law enforcement and the local community. The event will involve over 37 million people worldwide from 16,000 communities across the country from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases.
