The annual World’s Longest Yard Sale is set for this weekend and *technically* it starts tomorrow – but buyer and sellers didn’t let that point get in the way of some good bargain hunting today.
The 27th annual sale starts at Noccalula Falls in Gadsden and was already in full swing this morning. The World’s Longest Yard Sale now spans 6 states and covers 690 miles from Gadsden to Addison, Michigan. In Etowah County, the sale route follows Tabor Road into DeKalb County and vendors have been staking out locations since last weekend. The massive sale always causes a large amount of traffic congestion in the area north of Noccalula Falls, but many residents are expressing additional concern this year because the first day of the sale coincides with the first day of school in Gadsden, Attalla and Etowah County. Gadsden Police and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office will have extra officers assigned to the area in an effort to keep traffic problems to a minimum. Everyone agrees that the best advice for tomorrow and Friday is to leave early, drive slowly and be patient. The sale runs through Sunday.
