Coldwater Mountain Trail

The state is hoping to increase the number of visitors to Alabama’s Coldwater Mountain Trail. They are continuing to develop the current 25 mile tract into a world class destination trail system for mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers that will span 60 to 85 miles. Coldwater Mountain is a 4,083-acre complex that is part of the state’s Forever Wild program. TV24 spoke to Wigs’s Wheels Bicycle Shop owner Patrick Wigley today, and he says the trail is part of Alabama's most beautiful land and that local mountain bikers are taking advantage of the close-by recreational opportunities. Wigley says the trail servers the community by affecting the economics of the area. He says his business has benefited. Coldwater Mountain Trail is owned by the State of Alabama's Forever Wild organization and managed by the State Lands Division of the state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The trails and parking area are free to the public.
