state Employees Compensation Comparison

According to The Alabama Department of Personnel, they will pay a California consulting company $68,000 to study how state employees' compensation compares to those in neighboring states.  Senator Arthur Orr, of Decatur, asked for the study late last year when lawmakers questioned why the two top employees in the examiner of public accounts office were earning a combined $481,000 per year.  Last week, Representative Ed Henry, of Hartselle, said that he wants to look specifically at the examiner's office next year and find ways to prevent excessive pay raises in that department.
