Charged: Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer or Corrections Officer

According to Collinsville Police Assistant Chief Rex Leath, a domestic violence incident involving a firearm leads to the arrest of a man for disarming a law enforcement officer. And the incident places the Collinsville Police Department as the first police department in DeKalb County to charge a person under the new law of Disarming a Law Enforcement Officer or Corrections Officer. Shane Jacobs of Collinsville was arrested for domestic violence and then charged with disarming a law enforcement officer or corrections officer after he took an officer’s Taser while authorities were bringing him under control during a domestic violence incident. The incident took place at 52 Mountain Valley Drive in Collinsville. Jacobs was arrested and transported to the Collinsville City Jail, where he was booked and bond was made. According to officials, he was arrested a few days later on felony charges and was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center and released on a $7500 bond.
