Alabama is the only state that had a higher unemployment rate in June and July than it did one year ago. That's according to information released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Alabama's unemployment rate in June was 6.8 percent compared to 6.5 percent the previous June. And in July, the state's unemployment rate was 7 percent, which was higher than the 6.5 percent rate in June 2013. The national unemployment rate has declined over the last year from 7.3 to 6.2 percent.
