Cherokee County honors a local Vietnam veteran and best-selling author over the weekend as a 14.9 mile stretch of roadway is renamed the David L. Hartline Highway. The Dedication Ceremony is scheduled for this Saturday at 2:00pm. It will take place at the intersection of Alabama Highways 273 and 35 in the Blanche community. There will be a reception to follow at the Liberty Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Among those scheduled to be in attendance are Senator Gerald Dial, Senator Phil Williams, Representative Richard Lindsey, County Commission Chairman Kirk Day, State Department of American Legion Chaplin Duke Martin and many other local and state elected officials.
