Authorities Search for Suspect in Burglaries

Attalla police are on the search for a man believed to be involved in a string of burglaries.According to Attalla Police Chief Dennis Walker, authorities are investigating a case against two Birmingham men in connection with a pharmacy burglary. Attalla Police have warrants for Dedrick Jordan and Robert Sumpter, both of Birmingham. On June 17, Rick’s Pharmacy on Third Street South was broken into when someone threw a piece of rock through the front glass. Walker says the thieves took more than 6,000 pills at a value of approximately $10,000. He says most of the drugs were controlled narcotics. Walker added that Attalla police learned that the two Birmingham men had been arrested in Paducah, Kentucky for a similar crime and they sent images they had to Paducah. They found that the suspects were a match. Chief Walker said Jordan is at large and Sumpter is in jail in Kentucky. Attalla police hope to get warrants against a third suspect.
