Alabama Power conducts a Renew Our Rivers final planning meeting, today. This is the second year the environmental campaign crews will cleanup Neely Henry Lake in Ohatchee. Renew Our Rivers has grown from a single river cleanup event in Gadsden to a nationally recognized campaign. The effort brings together more than 10,000 volunteers. Volunteers for the Ohatchee event will meet at Lakeshore Marina on September 6th at 7:30AM. Planning Committee member, Jacki Thacker, says the trash and debris removed will help to make Alabama a better place to live. Alabama Power, with the help of volunteers around the Southeast, removed more than 12 million pounds of trash from 2000 to 2012 through Renew Our Rivers. For more information on signing up to volunteer along the lake nearest you contact the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.
