One local hospital celebrates cancer survivors at an evening banquet with entertainment, last night. Regional Medical Center hosted the 22nd annual cancer survivor’s celebration, Hope Anchors the Soul, to a record crowd at the Anniston City Meeting Center. RMC Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Joe Weaver, says the celebration of current patients, survivors and caregivers every year gives much needed support to those who go through the disease and fight instead of give up. He says its RMC’s chance to give back to the community. The dinner began in a small room at the hospital and has grown during the past 21 years. Many of the hospital’s local physicians donate their time to work at the event and give monetary sponsorships as well. Weaver adds that cancer is one of RMC’s primary service lines and it is dedicated to the treatment process of the disease.
Regional Medical Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer as a Comprehensive Cancer Center with Commendation.
