HS Football Awards - Week 2

Week two of the high school football season is now in the books and every team in East Alabama has played at least one game. The Uncle Sam’s Bar-B-Que Player of the Week is Saks running back Calvin Figueroa.

The junior was outstanding in the Wildcats first regular season game of the year against Wellborn. Figueroa picked up 239 yards on 29 carries and a touchdown. For his big win, he will pick up a gift certificate to Uncle Sam’s Bar-B-Que in Oxford. Figueroa and his Saks teammates will step into region play this week when they host Sardis Friday night.

The KFC-Jackson Mortgage Company Team of the Week is Gadsden City. The 7A Titans knocked off their rivals from Oxford 48-28 on Friday night. Gadsden City moves to 2-0 on the season. For their big victory, the entire Titan team and coaching staff will pick up a free meal at KFC and the Jackson Mortgage Company team of the week trophy and t-shirts. Gadsden City now moves to region play where they will play at Sparkman this Friday night.
