Guilty of Cheating

A judge has found two Marshall County men guilty of cheating during a fishing tournament on Lake Guntersville. Gary Minor, Junior of Albertville and Robert Gillaspie of Boaz had a non-jury trial Monday. They were found guilty of theft by deception and tampering with a sporting event. To avoid jail time, the men were ordered to pay $1,000 and court costs, spend two years on probation and perform 400 hours of community service work.  The men were arrested in April after winning a fishing tournament in Guntersville. Another angler told the judge he saw the men stop at a dock to get a large bass that was already in a net. The men indicated they'll appeal, but they're already banned from future fishing tournaments.
