Three Gadsden Police officers are honored for their lifesaving actions while on a recent patrol. Sgt. Josh Russell, Officer Jason Coffman and Officer John Hallman were awarded their departments Lifesaver Award today for an incident that occurred on August 25. Russell and Coffman were on patrol that day and saw an AT&T Lineman who appeared to be in distress. Upon stopping to investigate, they realized that the lineman - Danny Day – was having a heart attack. Day’s doctor told him that – without the immediate help from the officers – he would not have survived. Day says that he has no memory of the incident prior to waking up in the hospital and that he is grateful that the officers were in the right place at the right time – and that they knew exactly what to do. ) AT&T officials were also on hand for today’s presentation and - in a show of gratitude to the officers – made a $1,000 donation to a charity chosen by the officers. They chose Cornerstone Ranch. Day told everyone gathered today that – thanks to the quick action of the three officers - he is recovering well from the incident and that he was able to return to work yesterday.
