The city of Jacksonville is looking to expand the effectiveness of one of its natural resources. City leaders are working on extending the Chief Ladiga Trail. They say that it has been a slow process and they are working with city employees to complete the project. Officials blame time constraints and weather stops, saying those issues have made the work labor-intensive. Jacksonville Mayor Johnny Smith, says they have finished the portion from Chief Ladiga Trail out to Jacksonville-Alexandria Road. He adds that the city is looking to extend from that point on around to Coffee Creek. The extension is named Creekside Trail. Mayor Smith says the goal is getting adventurers off the trail and into downtown Jacksonville on the Square to visit and spend money with the city.
