Health Care Project

Alabama is one of three states that will participate in a year-long project to explore ways to bring about changes in how states pay for Medicaid and other health care services. The National Governors Association believes the project will help states reach agreements with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for changes in the delivery and payment of health care as well as improvement in health outcomes. Alabama wants to change its Medicaid program from a fee-for-service model to managed care through regional care organizations. Officials from Alabama, Nevada and Washington will work with representatives from the NGA during the project.
