The city of Weaver is working on its new playground area of Elwell Park. Playground equipment arrived this week and workers will work through the weekend putting together the equipment for area children. It is believed to be the home of Calhoun County’s only handicap accessible swing and Alabama’s tallest slide. The park is expected to be complete next week. Mayor Wayne Willis says there has already been a steady parade of children and parents stopping to check on the progress. He adds that he’s excited, and its finally some progress in Weaver that people can actually see. We’ll follow-up with a story to show you the completed project.
