A federal lawmaker from Alabama is speaking out about what she calls her "complete mistrust" of the health care system for veterans. Congresswoman Martha Roby of Montgomery made the comment earlier today. Roby met with leaders of the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System yesterday. Earlier this week, the interim director of the Central Alabama VA announced that wait times for new patients had been cut by one-third. Roby says veterans are telling her that the new information is incorrect and that their appointments are made within two weeks, but then they get canceled. The Central Alabama VA serves about 42,000 veterans in central and south Alabama and in the Columbus, Georgia, area.
