New Assistant Conductor for The Etowah Youth Orchestra

A former member of the United States Air Force who is also a bassoonist and violist joins The Etowah Youth Orchestra as its new Assistant Conductor. Dr. Darryl E. Harris, Sr. of Harrisville, Mississippi, will serve the E-Y-O as the instructor of the String Orchestra Program at Whitesboro Elementary, Duck Springs Elementary, Highland Elementary, John Jones Elementary, Glencoe Middle, Hokes Bluff Elementary, and Hokes Bluff Middle Schools. He will also serve as the cover conductor for the E-Y-O’s after-school ensembles, and will have regular conducting duties with each ensemble. Dr. Harris will lead works by P.D.Q. Bach and Bernard Herrmann with the Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra on the E-Y-O’s Fall Formal Concert on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014.
