The Alabama Department of Transportation’s Progress 20 project to construct additional lanes on Interstate 20 from State Route 46 in Heflin to west of the Tallapoosa River continues to move forward. Beginning today until October 1, the Weigh Station will be closed in order for the contractor to complete paving operations of the weigh station ramps and shoulders. Traffic will be reduced to one lane while performing the traffic shifts. Trucks must use the left lane. A reduced speed limit of 55 mph is in effect in the work zone. Motorists can expect delays during the lane shifts and are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival and departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
