Anniston City Council Votes for New RMC Board Member

Thursday, October 2, 2014

The Anniston City Council met tonight to discuss the future of the Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center board. The city council voted to remove RMC board chairman Greg Kernion on a 4 to 1 vote.  Ward 2 Councilman David Reddick gave the only dissenting vote on Kernion’s dismissal.  R-M-C employee Dr. Terry Phillis says he has been with the hospital for 2 years and believes that tonight’s actions by the council shows a lack of respect for the city. The council voted to replace Kernion with a 4 person vote.  Councilman Reddick abstained when the council suggested a replacement.  Reddick says that tonight’s special called meeting and the vote raises more questions than it answered. The Anniston City Council voted to replace Kernion with Paula Watkins.
